The Waikato Times AND THAMES VALLEY GAZETTE. Equal and exact justice to all men, of whatsoever state or persuasion, religious or political. THURSDAY, SEPT. 10, 1891.
Tmuti; wits do mistake about the expression of opiuion at the political rueotin™ at Ohaupo oil Tuesday, called for fclie purpose of deciding upon a candidate for the now vacant Waikato Seat; and oil no previous occasion has there been •seen such a thoroughly representative gathering in Waikato. .No more emphatic approval of Mr Bryce's conduct or condemnation of the ungenerous action of the Government in their treatment of him was wanting than the hearty applause which greeted every speaker who eulogised the one or condemned the other. The treatment Mr Bryce has been subjected to has been looked upon as unmanly, and so unworthy of publio men that it has met with disapprobation on all sides, and we are gratified to put on record that this feeling ha 3 been expressed by many who are opposed in politics to Mr Bryce. Although there was some difference of opinion at the meeting a? to the course to be pursued, there was throughout an earnest desire manifest to convey to Mr Bryce in the most unqualified manner the concurrence of the constituency in the line of action he had taken, and in asking him to allow himself to be again nominated for the vacant Waikato seat, the electors desired to emphasise to the eolony their appreciation of their late member's conduct and their continued confidence in him.
