THE LATE JAMES M'LEISH,
Our Whatawhata correspondent writes :— Little did I imagine when I chronicled the accident to James McLeish at ltarakariki, that it would terminato in so sad a manner. After the accident the decoased seemed unwell, but as lie had received a severe shaking and had swallowed a quantity of swamp water, it surprised no one, and his friends confidently expected a speedy recovery. But it was not to be. The late James McLeish, who was only IS years of age, came to this colony from Melbourno about a year ago, and has resided since then chiefly with his uncle at Whatawhata. Some time ago he took part in the bushfalling work at Te Akau station, and had only just returned before the accident. The deceased was very quiet and unassuming in his manners, and Ins early and sad death is very generally regretted.
