SNEAK THIEF.

To wamctr has lately beeu favoured with a visit, fioui that well-known character, Mr Sneak Thief. The gentleman honoured with the visitor's attentions does not seem as pleased as one Would imagino. Ooe of our worthy citizens last sale day—a Saturday— left the tongue, jowl, and an aye-piece of a pig, he had beon killing, in a jar to soak prior to going into pickle. The next morning tho whole lot was mi-sing, someone having paid a visit to the shed during the night oil a foreging tour to replenish their larder and thus mark the Sabbath day. A little more than a wt.vk later our same worthy citizen had somo pork in a cask in the uho I, about to be salted. He left it there with a lid on, Readied with a bag of salt. During the night fie hoard noises like as if the enterprising burglar was a-brrglaring and he brav ely sallied forth, urged on by his better h df. He could see no one, and did not hear anything further, so he retired to bed again. The next morning on going to the shed lie found tho lid was oIF the cask, tho bag of salt on the floor, and some portion of the porker had evidently resuscitatod and walked olf. If Mr Snoak Thief would kindly call again at the sime place, his worthy host will give hiin a dozen or two of eggs, as he thinks it such a pity to have hams eaten without eggs. That's what I understood hiin to say, but ho had better call and see fir himself —(Own Correspondent).
