An amendment providing for the abolition of plural voting was carried and one extending the franchise to women was negatived. Hobart, August 21. The investigation of the officers of tho Bank of Van Pieman'B land is completed but the result will not be made officially known until the meeting of shareholders iu a few days. It is uudnrstood tho enquiry shows reckless management iu the Hobart branch and that of the reported assesta probably a quarter of a million must bo regarded aB doubtful debts. When everything is settled, it is probable that the available assets will not exceed seventy-five thousand, and this will necessitate a call of £1 per share. The Union Bank ha 3 declined to tako over the business of the bank.
