CAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD.

Aitru a somewhat lengthy interval, the Cambridge Domain Board met on Saturday, at 2.30 p.m. Thero were present: Messrs T. Wells (chairman), J. Fisher and R. Kirkwood. The minutes of the previous meating, held on May 2nd, were read and confirmed. Finance.—The accounts of the Board continue in a prosperous condition, there being a credit balance nf £20 10s Id. Cambridge West Cemetery Reserve.— Messrs Pyke and Fletcher wrote, on May Oth, offering to plough and twice skeith harrow that portion of the above reserve that had been cleared for 30s, providing the Board would allow them to take a crop of oats off the ground, and would indemnify them from damage done by hordes attending funerals. They furthei offered to clear the reserve from furze for the sum of £1, such sum to include the 80s above mentioned. —Mr Fisher advised that the first mentioned offer be accepted, but not the second, as the furze had already been twice cut, and ho thought it would ba better to havo it burnt and grubbed up in a month or so. He stated tho matter had been mentioned to most of the members of the Board, and that Messrs Fletcher and Pyke were in possession of the resorvo ; indeed they had planted the oats, and would he glad to havo the Board's acceptance of their offer. —It was resolved that Messrs Fletcher and Pyke bo informed that their offer to deal with that portion of the reserve that had previously been ploughed be accepted, and that they be authorised to exclude horses from the reserve during their occupancy. Their offer to deal with the furze on the unploughad portion was declined. Lathyiuj.s Silvestkm. —The Chairman read the circular ro this new forage plant (which we published in extenso some time since) that hs had received from the Minister of Lands, and likewise produced the packet of seed that had been forwarded to him. The packet contained about 40 seeds, which very much reiemble vetches or tares.—The Chairman said he had received several applications from individuals who were anxious to possess some of the seed, but there were so few sent that he had felt compelled to refuse every one.—lt was resolved to set apart a small portion of the Lake reserve in which the seeds will bo planted, every precaution being taken to protect the plants, and it is hoped that in a year or two sufficient seed may be obtained from them to allow nf the Board distributing it amongst the settlers. Arrhahh op Rent. —A Governor's warrant was received authorising tho Board to sue for rent due upon allotments Nos. 63 to 6S, but tho Chairman said they wanted the right to re-enter, as the tenant had left the country, and it was no use attempting to sue.—The Clerk explained that he had sent a telegram asking to have the power to reenter embodied in the warrant, but it arrived too late, as the warrant had been issued. Another application will bo made for power to re-enter. Thanks.—The thanks of the Board were tendered to Messrs H. and R. Reynolds for having presented 30 very fine oak trees to the Board. The trees will be planted in the Cambridge West recreatiou reserve, alongside the main road. Ghavkl Pits.—The Chairman made a longthy statement, thoroughly explaining the dispute between the Borough Council and the Board regarding the levelling of gravel pits in the domain and on the Thornton road : also the recommendations made by the joint committee of tho above bodies.—lt was unanimously resolvod to accept the proposals of the committee (which we have previously published), and everyone expressed their pleasure that this unpleasant business was in a fair way of being settled.
