PAKURANGA HOUNDS.
Tkk Pakuranga hounds, in charge of Mr Tom Brown, n.et at Kihikihi on Monday list., at 11 a.m. A largo number of ladies and gentlemen attended, among whom I entice ! the following Mesdames Ogle, Ellis and Von Dadelszen. Misses Lvnch, Hutchinson (2), Selbv, and others, Messrs T. Woatherill (Mastei) on Fislierboy, J. Corbov oil Cuss ick, H. Weal on Jangler, Stewart 011 Count, Bach on a Cap-a-pie, Ivay on Jacob, Hewettona bay, Dixon on an Ingomar, C. Storey on a bay, F Carboy 011 Witi, Bockett on an Ingmiar, Hunt on an Ariel, Chapman, Udolph, Ogle, and many others. The hounds were lirst taken in tlie direction of Orakau, and upon reaching Mr Martin's farm several nice juinjis were taken without mishap, after disposing "f which Mr Hewett's farm was made for. Here a hare was started, but soon lost. Some nice stiff jumps had been got ready by Mr llowelt, and, as a matter of course, caused many to kiss tho ground—in very graceful attitudes—much to the satisfaction and amusement of the others. After a short spell on I his farm, a turn was made in tho direction of Kihikihi, and on reaching Martin's corner a brief stay was made in order to permit of the drag being laid. The fun next commenced in Mr McKinder's farm, where several livo fences wore met with, tho horses taking their jumps in good form ; thenco, continuing over good gr iund, Mr Ashby's paddocks wore tho next to be favoured by a visit. Hero some nicolytrimmed gorso fences wore met with, and got over without accident. After loaving this farm tho Kilukihi-Orakau road was then crossed, and an entry made into Mr Moncrioff's farm. Several big gorso fences here faced tho crowd, but nevertheless some good jumping was witnessed. The road was next taken until the school fence of four rails was met with. This obstacle proved one too many for not only tho followers-np, but likewise somo of tho wellmounted, chicken-hearted gent?. Sevoral of tho leading horses, however, took thm obstacle in real good hunting style. No more jumping took place until tho township was reached, when evory suitable fence was made use of, and a nice finish made over a pailin" fence at the rear of the Alpha Hotel Mr T. Weatherill being the first to get over this. The drag, which was laid by Messrs J. Corboy (Cossack) and H. Weal (Jangler), is acknowledged to be tho best that has ever taken place in the district. Tho distance was over threo miles, tho jumps numbering upwards of twenty-six.
