AUCKLAND RACING CLUB.

At tlio annual meeting uf the Auckland Racing Club to-day, the Chairman referred to the satisfactory results of the year, and ho congratulated them on the increase of membership, the receipts being £'100 more than last year and although £305 moro was given in prizo money, there was an actual money gain ou the ya.ir of £575. The Chairman also made reference to the proposed Totalisator Tax, and said that the 2A per cent proposed was too large Mr Nathan further stated that if a small percentage was taken from the totalisator gains it should at least ho given back in the shape of a 50 per cent Government subscription to Queen's Plates, to be run at the metropolitan centres. Tlieso Q.ieen's Plates should be for the support of horse breeding —that is breeding lor stamina and endurance as well as speed. Looking at the immense field in India for remount-*, it would be good policy on the part of the Government to encourage a breed of strong cavalry and artillery horsos. It was stated that there was £70 owing less than last year. Messrs MeL.aughiin, Kirkwood, Lanigan, Buckland, Nathan and Duder wen re-elected members of the committee.
