Mil McDonald, delegate from the Australian Shearers' Union, in addressing tlie Trades and Labour Conned, said in his opinion the settlement arrived at was highly satisfactory, and he intends to return to Queensland. The Chamber of Commerce approves of Mr R. Gardner's scheme for grading Hax by points, and rocommends its adoption throughout the colony. Mr Lindner proposes the maximum to be 100 points. Common to be all up to G2 points ; fair, 03 to 72 ; good, 73 to S3 ; superior. 83 to 100. A large number of Maoris from VVanganui and Wairarana and other districts are now in town. They have coma 111 for the purpose of holding a meeting to discuss the Native Bills.
