HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Thb following is ;i continuation of tlio debate on the Land liill after tliu telegraph office closed :it midnight on Friday. Messrs Dutliie and Thomson (Clutha) also spoke, Mr Valentino fallowing, duriiiß wh >sn speech the galleries were cleaved. After the galleries woro cloared the dobato was kept gviing, Mr Valentine speakintr till a quaitorto four. Then followed Mr Buchanan, Mr Fergus, and Mr Shera, in the order named. Towards five o'clock Mr Moors moved, "That the debato bo adjourned, ,, which was lost by 1"> to 28. Then Mr Fergus moved the adjournment oi tlio House, but this was ulsm negatived. At half-past five the amendment was put and lost by 2!) to 10, and the second reading of the Bill was carried on tho voices. Strangers were then re-admitted on the motion of Mr Fish, and tlio Bill was referred to the Waste Lands Committee. Some discussion ensued on the motion "That the House do now adjourn." during which Mr Kolloston remarked that it was evident from the tactics of tlio Government that they wanted to slide opposition to the Bill ; but the Government, on the other hand, contended that the Opposition were obstructing business.
