LUNGWORM IN SHEEP.

Wb regret to hear that the troublesome affection of Inngworm is becoming very prevalent among the young sheep in Waikato. Kroni several quaiters we have heard complaints about it, the latest being from tho \Yaipa, where flock-owners have suffered considerably, one settlor losing mine than half his lambs. It is usually supposed that longworm is more troublesome upon low ill-drained lands than upon high breezy downs, but in some eases we know of lambs running upon high and comparatively new laud, have suffered very severely. In the Tuhikaramca district the settlers are using the well known remedy, Larney's Athelmentic; this has always given good results, and if administered in time, that is, when the first symptoms of trouble appear, serious losses may be averted. It is every year becoming more apparent that tho easy-going careless way of keeping sheep, will no longer answer. Greater care must be taken, particularly with young growing sheep, not forgetting the providing of suitable changes of_ food, which in many cases is tho prevention of disease that is better than cure. Sheep breeding will, we believe, becoire the most important agi'icul'uiv.l pursuits ill Waikato and the prices realised even now for good sheep, amply warrant the bestowal of more care and attention upon them than lias hitherto been the case.
