The Oreti made another attempt to pull the stranded Wauaka off the sand this morning at high tide, but although the vessel floated she was not moved from her position. WELLINGTON, Laat Night. The impression has got about that the Hinemoa viaited tho Auckland Islands while the crew of the Compadre were there. She was there in February eearching for the Kakanui, and went down again at the beginning of March, but on that occasion only called at the Bounty and Antipodes. Sho was at the former about a wrek before the Compadre was wiecked. ASHBURTON, Last Night. Mr Moss, who attempted to murder hie wife and commit suicide yesterday, is still alive, but there is very little hope of his recovory. He has been able to swallow some liquid food, ilia wife is getting on well, and her recovery is almost assured. Her injuries consist of a scalp wound with a tomahawk, and on the neck, chin and hand with a razor.
