A WAIKATO HUNT CLUB.
A MKKTiNti of those interested in forming a Waikato Hunt Club was held at Ohaupo on Tuesday last. Present: Messrs J. McNicol (in the chair), W. M. Douglas, Samuel Lawson. W. Thornton, James Williamson, Henry Windsor, D. McNicol, E. Pilling, O. F. Pilling, James Turnbull, J. R. S. Richardson, G. F. McCullagh, J. Cassidy, Angus Mclvinnon, A. Kusab, and A. Storey. -The chairman briefly introduced the subject, and said that of course tho bounds could not be obtained this year and any business that was done now would not interfere with arrangements that were being made with the Pakuranga Hunt Club for the use of their hounds this season. He thought, however, that they should form a Waikato Hunt Club and get a pack of hounds of their own ; and, from the support ha had heard of, the issue promised to bo a succoss. Hitherto arrangements had been made with the Pakuranga Hunt Club for the uso of their hounds each season; but this year the latter Club appears to bo more independent, and did not care about letting the hounds away. Therefore an effort should be made to form a Waikato Club and got a pack of hounds here, and then they could hunt at the ino.it suitable time of the season.-Several gentlemen spoke in favour of forming a Club, and stated that only a few hounds would be required to start with ; and several offois wore made to keep from one to two couples each, should tho Club decide on putting the hounds out, to keep down oxpense.—lt was proposed by Mr Douglas and seconded by Mr Pilling thati Waikato Hunt. Club be formed, and arrangements mado to get a permanent pack of hounds in the district.—Can ied.—After some discussion, tho member's animal fee was fixed at I'L Is.— The following gentlemen were elected a committee to mnko enquires for hounds and make arrangements connected therewith : .Messrs W. M. Douglas, W. Thornton, M. H. Pickering, H. B. Webster, and J. McNicol.—Proposed by Mr Lawson and seconded by Mr Douglas that a subscription list be started, apart from the annual fee towards paying first- cost and giving the Club a fair start. Although only a small meeting thirty-three guineas were subscribed in the room, and further offers will he thankfully received by the secretary, Mr A. J. Storey.
