LODGE BETA, WAIKATO, N.Z.C.
The installation ceremony in connection with Lodge Beta was performed by Bro. Malcolm Niccol, U.W.G. Superintendent, assisted by Bro. W. Dev, P.M. There was a good attendance of brethren, Bro. A. Primrose, P.M., in the absonce of the W.M. (Bro. E. Rathborne), being in the chair. All tho sister lodges in Waikato— Alpha, Alexandra Te Awainutu, and Te Aroha—were represented, and brethren from Lodge Ara, Pousonby, St. Andrew and Franklin were also present. On the lodge being opened, the Grand Superintendent and his acting-grand officers were received with the usual honours. The Grand Superintendent then took over the working of the lodge, and tho W.M.-elect (Bro. James Primrose) was duly presented. The It. W.G. Superintendent installed Bro. Pr.mrose, and tlion handed over tho dispensation from the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, under which the lodge is at present working, to him, after which he delivered a very able and impressive address. The W.M. then invested his otiicers as follows :—S. W., Bro. (!. W. Sure ; J.W., Bro. W. Miiroli; secretary and treasurer, Bro. G. Edgecumbe, P.M. (twelfth time) ; S.D., Bro. H. J. Gwynne; J. D., Bro. T. J. Prince ; 1.G., Bro. T. Slude ; Tyler, Bro. K. L. Hope. Bro. Dey delivered an address to the brethren. Before the closing of tho lodge, congratulations were tendered from Lodge Alpha, L'oll JO.CJ.; Lodge Alexandra, 11SS E.C. ; Lodge Te Awamntu, 2:321 E.G.; Lodges St. Andrew, Ponsonby, Ara, To Aroha and Franklin, N.X.C; and Lodge Waitemata, E.C. Apologies were received from a number of brethren who were unable to attend. Tho ceremony throughout was choral, Bro. Hookey, of Lodge Ara, kindly acting as organist. The brethren then adjourned to the Hamilton Hotel, where a recherche suppor was partaken of and thoroughly enjoyed by all. After the tables were cleared, the following toasts were duly honoured: —" The Queon and Craft." and " H.R. H. Prince of Wales, Grand Patron of Freemnsonry." proposed by Bro. Niccol, Grand Superintendent ; "Bro. H. Thomson, M W.G.M. of N.Z.," proposed by Bro. A. Primrose, P.M.; "Bro. M. Niccol, Grand Superintendent, and the G.L. Officers," proposed by the W.M. ; " Bro. J. Primroso, W. M.," proposed by Bro. Niccol ; " Otiicers of Lodge Beta," proposed by Bro. (!. F'owlds ; •'Our Sister Lodges," proposed by Bro. C. J. W. Barton, P.M. ; " Visitors," proposed by Bro. G. W. Sare ; and the Tyler's toast. Songs and recitations were, inter sporsod with the different toasts, and a thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent by all the brethren.
