RAGLAN,

Land Court.—ln anticipation of the Land Court being held, a large number of natives of the Ngatitahinga and other tribes came into the township last week. Upon their arrival they found that the court was again postponed for another month. " And like the King of France they had to march back again.'' These continued postponements are causing the poor natives a great deal of trouble. Provision is made for the reception of their native friends and relatives, food is procured, some of it a perishable nature and needless trouble is caused both to Europeans and natives alike who are interested in the holding of this Land Court. Vagrancy.—An old man named William Hamilton, better known to the residents of Raglan and Kawhia as " Dr" Hamilton, was reputed to be wandering about in the mountain road somewhere near the lime kilns. Constable Bulford went out on Saturday last and brought him into Raglan by conveyance. He was brought before Mr Wallis, J. P., on a charge of vagrancy and by him remanded to Hamilton, to which place he was to be conveyed on Tuesday morning by coach. Auction. — A huge auction sale is advertised to be held in Raglan on Saturday next, May 16th, of furniture, boats, horses, vehicles, and various other articles. Mr C. Sutton and Co. are the auctioneers.
