A PROJECTED LAND COMPANY.
Oun Rotnrua correspondent writes :—I have been shown a letter received by Mr Kelly, by the last English mail from a gentleman in Lindon moving in the best financial circles, and at one time a resident of New Zealaed, and associated with Mr Kelly in native land purchases. There is such a sanguinu tone that I cannot refrain from making a few extracts, which I am sure will prove encouraging to many struggling settlers who have long despaired of the tide ever turning to lead them on to fortune. The letter was written in March last. Here is what I have decided to give " I have just seen that yon have been duly electod to the House, and permit mo to congratulate you heartily on your success. We have also seen that Mr Bullance has succeeded to power, and tho policy of !iia Government meets with hearty approval on this side. . . . Some friends of mine are very anxious to secure a good block of land at the Lakes—2B,ooo acres—with tho concurrence of the Government for it to bo developed by actual settlers, sent out from here. We could find any reasonable amount of money to satisfy tho Government if tho thing could be put through quickly and expeditiously. . . . My friends wish mo to go out at once to the colony and see about it, but I thought it wiser to write to you first. . . . But in any case, if I have to come before wo hear from you. this will advise you that tho matter is under way, and I could find out if you were at Hotorua by a wire from King George's Sound. . . . The idea is gaining ground here that an upward movement is about to set in all ovor the world, and it would be the right tim 9 to commence a fresh enterprise."
