(l;Y TELKIiIIAI'H.—OWN COUItESI'ON'DENT.) Auckland, Last Night. The liceming election in tho various districts included in the Auckland Borough, on May (sth, will bo fought out on prohibition lines. The contest will be the most important of any licensing election yet held since the present Act came intn force. Nominations were received by the Returning Officer at noon to-day, whet) prohibitionist and moderate tickets were submitted in each district. The raciug mare Dollar was brought down from Sydney iu the Tarawera last night. Mr Kean also was a passenger. The mare Escalade, bought by Mr Wilson, at Chrietchurch, at tho Middle I'ark sale, has passed into Mr S. 11. liollau's hands. The police have recovered £30 of the money (J.'4-t 17s 0d) stolen from the Provincial Hotel ou Tuesday evening by two meu Taylor and Swanson, whe were both arrested shonly after the robbery. Iu addition to the money, a gold watcli and a quantity of jewellery was stolen. Some of the jewellery was found ou Taylor when arrested.
