WOODVILLK, Lsst Night. Tub engino of tho express train from Xapier last nifjht ran olf tho lino about a mile in the (iorpa from this end, and went about eight chains before being stopped, the front portion being supported by the cow-catcher sliding along the rails. Tho escape from an Occident was miraculous. Tho front wheels ran off just before crossing tho iron bridge, and knocked against a sleeper at a distance of six inches clear of tho rails, the cow-catcher alone preventing tho engine from being carried over. A train was despatched from Palmorston, arriving at tho scene about 8.30 p.m., and took on the passengers and mails. The driving nda connected with the front wheels of the refractory engine were removod, and the engine, and the train ran back to Woodville.
