R.M. COURT, HAMILTON.
Yesterday.—(Before Captain Jackson,
R.M.) Furious Driving.— Sylvester McGuirc on the information of Constable Wild was charged with furious driving in Victoria street, Hamilton, on Marcii 7th. Mr Swarbrick appeared for defendant, who pleaded not guilty. Considerable evidence was given showing that defendant was gallopiug to pass Deegau, and the magistrate held the charge proved, and fined him 10s. and costs, 355, Another similar charge against the same defendant was withdrawn. A charge of furious driving against John Deegan was withdrawn, Hugh Kelly, charged with furious driving on March 7th, was fined 10s. and costs, 30s.
Breach of By-laws.—A. Mayes, D. Mclntyre aud R. Wilson, were each fined la. and costs, 7s. 6d., for driving in tlie Borough of Hamilton without lights. Quinx v. Henderson.—Annie Quinn sunmioned Mary Henderson for using insulting lauguage in a public place, and William Henderson for assault and also to keep the peace. Mr Swarbrick appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Dyer for the defendants. The cases were all heard together, as the evidence was the same in oaoh. The evidence, which was of a very contradictory nature, occupied the Court all the afternoon. The Magistrate remarked that one side swore one thing and the other another, therefore he would dismiss the case, each side to pay their own costs.
(Jrix.v v. Hksdkijso.w—Claim £'2, for services as midwife. Mr .Swarbrick appeared for the plaintiff, aud Mr Dyer for defendant. Judgment for defendant, with costs, 20s Gd.
