BANQUET TO MR BRUCE.
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION,) Makto.v, Last Night. The complimentary banquet to Mr Bruce last night was a spieudid success. Though the tickets wera issued at a guinea, about 200 gentlemen, aud a considerable number of ladies, were present. The toast, "Tho (iuest of the evening,'' was proposed by Mr McArthur. Mr Bruce received an ovation on rising to respond, and his speech is considered a masterpiece of oratory. Messrs Bryce, Harknes--, Wilson, Duthie and Menteith also spoke, and apologies were received from Messrs Hall, Rolleston, Scohie McKen/.ie, Thomas Mclven/.ie, Fergus, (J. F. Richardsr.n. and a largo number of other prominent men. The assemblage was the. largest and most representative ever seen iu this part of the colony.
