ST. PAUL'S, CAMBRIDGE.

A HAIIVKST festival was held in St. Paul's Wesley an Church at Cambridge cm Sunday last, and large congregations were present both morning and evening ; indeed at the latter service the building was packed. The musical portion of the services was greatly embellished by the addition of Jackson's Venite and Te Deum and the anthems "Thou Visitest the Earth" and " Behold how Good and Joyful." hi the anthems Miss and Mr Priestly took the solo portions and acquitted themselves well, the choir taking up the choruses with spirit. Tho Church was very tastefullv decorated with fern-, nikau palms, cabbage trees, etc., the lamps, ros'.rnm, anil even the clock receiving their due. share of adornment. As is usual on such occasions there was a large and varied supply "f fruit arranged en tables within the altar rails, and in the place usually occupied by the organ and choir, both of which were for the nonce relegated to one coiner of tho church. Intermixed with the fruit were several colons and other foliage and flower plants which added to the effect and with corn, etc., rendered the tout ensemble most pleasing, and reflects meat credit upon those who did the arranging. The Kev. C. rf. Garland preached bor.li morning and evening, his text at tho rormer Matthew 7 ch. IT v., and at the latter Revelations tJ cli. v, I'.oth were most el ..runt and earnest discourses, that in the evening being pronounced by many of those present one of tho best, if not the best, that Mr Garland has delivered since ho came to Wiikato. The collections were in aid of the circuit fund, winch will doubtless benefit largely by the festival. TILE SOIREE. » )n Tuesday evening a " fruit soiree " was held in the Sunday-school adjoining the church. The entertainment consisted of music— vocal and instrumental —recitation and readings, and during an interval fruit and other eatables were handed round. The programme was as follows :--Piano solo, Talbergs', " Humo Sweet Home," Miss Maud Nixon ; recitation, "Woman's curiosity," Mr C. Robeits; song, "The Children's Home," Mrs White ; recitation, "The Ride from the Wreck and the Death of the Blood Mare," by Lindsey Gordon, Mr Percy Rishworth ; duet, " Te'l Rammeuti,'' Miss K. Taylor and Mr Gilmer; reading, "An original poein on the Pukerimu Chapel," Rev. W. Evans; song. "The Death of the Flower Girl," Miss W. Walker ; .Jubilee Chorus, "He Rose from tho Dead," (flee Company ; piano solo, " The Maiden's Prayer," Miss Lena Neal; piano solo. " Bohemian Girl," Miss Clark ; reading, " The Birdcatahor and his Canary,'' Mr Robf. C'aley ; song, " We Tars," Mr C. Hunter; reading, (from "John Bull and His Island,") Rev. C. H. Garland • song, " t Seek for Thee in 15vety Flower," Mr Gilmer; reading, "Mr t'ogg's Cure for ■Sleeplessness," Mr (fane; "Harvest Ditties," Mr 15. Garland ; duet. " Ehrin on tho Uliine," Mis« Tajli>v and Mr Gilmer. Most of the pciformeis were loudly applauded, Miss Taylor and Mr Gilmer being ino>t vociferously encored for their first effort, consented to sing again at a later period, and gave "Ehrin on the Rhine." Most of tho readings were good, Mr Evan's original one being perhaps the best. The attendance was good, and everyono appo.ired to enjoy themselves.
