DISTRICT OF WAIKATO HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Hoard was held in the Hamilton Borough Council Chambers, at 11 a.m., yesterday. Thero were present:—Messrs Primrose (chairman), Anderßon, TeaH-Jalo, Brown, Clements, Heaney, Sertdon, Lang, Mcrnoraon, Kallendar, and Cheomell. Raglan Mkmbku.—Mγ J. B. Teasdalo introduced Mr J. McGuirk, the representative of tho Rafrlan Countv. The chairman said there was some difficulty as to this matter, na on 28th November the clerk of the Riigliin County Council wrote notifying the appointment of Mr T. ( 1. Chambers.— Mr F. D. Rich applied tor the admission of an old man 78 years of aee, named Chambers, who is at present in the Hospital, into the Refine on his convalescence. It was stated that it would be about three months beforo he was discharged from the Hospita , , ani the matter was deferred for tho present. Thames BoAun.-The Secretary of the Thames Board, wrote asking that this Board reduce their charge of 4s per diem for treatment of pationts from the Thames district, lie stated that all the Boards had asreed to a mutual charge of 2s (Id per diem and hoped this Board would concur m this. Rbquisitks.—Dr. Kenny applied br a Speymer's in Inced current battery, which it is necessary to use in Hindman's case.— The chairman pointed out the difficulty and expense in obtaining ice, which is frequently required at the Hospital, and said ho thought that porasthing ought to be done to procure an ice machine.—lt was decided to procure the battery as soon as possible, and also to make enquiries as to the cost of an ice machine. Secuktary's KKPOiir.— Tho Secretary, in his monthly report, stated that at present 24 persons were receiving aid, and that there were twelve inmates in the refuge, one of whom was paying at the rate of i« per week. These were handed to Dr. Kouny and he recommended the appointment of Miss Rothwell.—Mr Clements said that he had known Miss Annie Pearson for four years and moved that she. be appointed to the position.—Seconded bv Mr Anderson. —Messrs Brown and Heaney spoke in favour of the appointment of Miss Pearson.— Mr Seddon said that the Board should show sumo consideration to the opinion of Dr. Kenny who was the one best fitted to iud n 'e, and he moved that the youn" lady, Miss E. M. Rothwell, recommended by the doctor be appointed.— Seconded by Mr McGuirk.— Captain Mcpherson proposed that Miss Murray be appointed.—Seconded by the Chairman. Tho motions were then put. and the voting was as follows :—For Miss Pearson : Messrs Clements, Brown, Kallender, Teasdalo and Anderson. were received for the various endowments offered for lease for a term of seven years : —Lot2lS, 1 acre, Galloway-street, Hamilton East 20s per annum, F. J. von Stunner, accepted ; Lot 216, 1 acre, Cambridge Last, agreeing to clear furze, fence, and put down in grass W.G. Collins, accepted on payment of Is per annum: Lot 24, 1 acre, Cam-

bridge East, £1 P«r annum, R. Kirk wood accepted: Lot 268, 33 ncrra, parish of Mangapiko, £3 per annum, J. K. Davidson accepted; Lot 39, ? acre, Hamilton West 10s per annum, W. A. Graham, accepted. For the other endowments no

Estimate.—Messrs Primrose, beddon, Coates, Lang and Chepmell, the House Committee, were appointed to prepare the estimates for the ensuing year, for presentation at the next meeting.—The Chairman pointed out the absolute necessity of increasing the buildings within a very short time, and included in these would be the erection of a residence for the doctor at the Hospital, extension of the Hospital, and residence for the nurses. He said that he thought a separate house should be erected for the nurses, aud their present residence devoted to Hospital purposes. Hβ had drawn up a rough estimate as to the cost, which he thought would be about £800, £-100 of which would be rereceived from subsidy which would be shortly stopped. The remaining £400 WBuld be made up by tho contributing bodies about as follows, viz., 1 iako ±,U-, Waikato £117, Wai pa £88, Kaglaii 4,28, Hamilton £20, Cambridge £14. The Chairman said that ho was sure that the board would be in a better position financially now had tho doctor had his residence at the Hospital and devotod the whole of his time to the institution.
