KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the abova Board was hold in tho Waikato County Chambers, yesterday afternoon, when there were present: Messrs Primrose (chairman), Gillett, White, and Cuates. Mr S.indes, the Engineer, was also in attendance.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Gravel Pit. —Mr Cox wrote, Rtating that he had forwarded the board's letter on to Mr Gray, re the grafel pit. Road Deviation'.—Mr Sare wrote 011 behalf of the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, agreeing to bear one half of the cost of theexpenses incurred in deviating the river road 011 through Kdmond's farm, and the work is to bo proceeded with at once. E.vorxEEii's Remuskratios.—Mr White moved that the present arrangement with the engineer cease from the present date, and for tho future the services of an engineer be retained for any special services which may be required by tho Doard.—Seconded by Mr Gil'.ett and carried. —Mr Sandes said that he had thought tho previous arrangement was not a satisfactory one, and that he was of opinion that the one now made would be far better. —Mr Coates moved that the remuneration for tho engineer be 10 per cent. 011 the cost of all works supervised by lnm, together with moneys out of pocket.— Seconded by Mr White and carried. TICNIIKIiS fok Cr.KAitiNG.—The following tenders were opened for some SO chains of clearing, Sc., 011 the Tramway road Murray, i'l'3; W. Proctor. .£lO l~>s 8d ; (!. Proctor, .tto ; I )ol li ci r, WO; J. A. Oillett, £•"> 18-*. —Gillott's tender was accepted.
Kncixkeu's Kki'OHT.—The Engineer reported that tho telephone line was down for some distance on the 11 ukauui-Tuupiri road and was very dangerous, also that a polo was within one or two feet of the embankment near Kumuey's. Tho willows lately planted on the embankment protection works at Taupiri were growing well and that their success was now assured. A number of willow boughs laid along tho bank between the protection palisades had been washed away and wanted replacing to protect the bank from the ravages of tho north west wind, which fairly blew it away in tons, also that the Ngaruawahia-Tanpiri road wanted repairing and claying. Mr White moved that part of the Ngaruawahia-Tanpiri road be ri formed and clayed. Carried. Tho Engineer also leportad that the I'iako ro.td from the railway line to Hinton's gully was in a bad f.tate of repair. The surfaceman was ordered to be written to re same. . Furzk. —It was resolved that parties who have been instructed to clear furze and not having it done so by the next meeting, bo proceeded against by law. Af-COUN'Trf. —The following accounts were passed for payment:—Clarken .€23 Ss 4s ; Kiely K1 4s ; Johnson i!(i 13s ; Sandes £2 5s 3d. This was all the business of importance.
