IXSTALJ ATJON OF MAYOR (ISY TBLBUUAI'JI—-OWN COKKKSL'ONDENT). CAMiiiiinaß, Last Nierht. Thk annual meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council whs held at noon yesterday. Present: Messrs Hally, Webber, Fawcett, Kiikwood, Bond, and Robertson. The Town Clerk occupied the chair, and announced that Mr J. H. Priestley had been re-elected Mayor. On the motion of Cr. Hally, seconded by Cr. Webber, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Priestley for the manner in which he had conducted the business during the past year, and for allowing himself to be nominated for the office for a further term. Mr Priestley having signed tho usual declaration, took the chair, aud thanked the Council for the honour they had conferred upon him. Ke attributed his success in u great measure to tho groat assistance he had received from the Town Clerk. He was also deeply indebted to Cr. Hally and Mr A. Clements, who had undertaken work that should have fallen to hia lot but which he had been unable to perform. He briefly reviewod the state of the town as compared with its standing at this time last year. The overdraft had been reduced from £y2ci to i' 33 7; the streets were nover in a bettor condition, which was in a groat measure due to their indefatigahle Chairman of Works Committee, Mr Webber, lie looked back upon tho past year with thankfulluess and with hope aud increased confidence to tho futuru. !
