« SOUTH AUCKLAND RAGING CLUR The approaching meeting of the South Auckland Racing Club to be held on the Claudelands course on Saturday next given promise of being the must successful ono held by tho Club. Tho course is in firstrate order, thnugh perhaps a ti-ifie hard, but the rain yesterday will do much to alter this. There has been little training demo on the inside running, and consequently the turf has not been at all cut up. The dip at the entrance to the straight has been filled up and the course is now level all the way round. The steeplechase course since Inst meeting has oeen attended to and a wator jump and wattle fonee in front of the stand added, these take tho place of the double hardies which were previously in *he straight. The wator jump which in artificial is made with a concrete reservoir which will be faced with sods, the fence on the take-off side is a gorse hedge with a rail on top. Considerable improvements have been effected in and around the grandstand which is now being painted. The band stand has been moved to the side of the grand-stand and a place at the back of it has been set aside for the licensed bookmakers. There will be two totalisators on ' the ground, which will however work conjointly. As usual they will be under the charge of Messrs Adams and Andrews. The indefatigable Secretary, Mr G. H. Cuter has all arrangomeats completed for the running off of the somewhat lengthy programme, of eight events, and all that is required to make the meeting a grand success is fine weather.
