The Sydney Morning Herald, this morning, in an article on the result of the general elections in New Zealand, makes reference to the defeat of the lute Speaker, Sir Maurice O'Rorke, and says that his fairness and impartiality to friend and io'i alike, the clearness and fairness of his decisions, and his uniform courtesy and determination have made the New Zealand House of Representatives the most orderly of any Parliament in the Australasian colonies. The Daily Telegraph devotes an article to the same subject, and remarks that whatever the history of the new Parliament may be, its management, owing to ill i amount of raw material introduced, will scarcely prove work of an easy character for an amateur Speaker to perform. The Commissioners of the late Exhibition have made their final report, in which they state ihat they consider the loss justiiied, on the., ground that the greater part of the money was spent on articles vithin . the colony, and they also claim that the great increase in railway receipts might fairly be credited to the Exhibition. Adelaide, December 9, The report of the Railway Commissioners has been presented to Parliament. It shows that the recent strike caused a loss of £35.000 in tho revenue of the railways. Buisbaxe, December 9. An almost inexhaustible supply of sapphires has been found near Withersfield, a station on the route of v.he Central railway.
