DISTRICT OF WAIKATO HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Till! usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Hamilton Borough Council Chambers at 11 o'clock yesterday. Tho old members present wore Messrs Primrose (chairman), Teasdale, oeddon, McPhorson, Clements and lleaney. After tlio miuutes were read aud sonfirmed the old Board was dissolved. Nkw Board.—The clerk read the appointment of representatives by tho various local bodies as follows: —Waikato county : Messrs Primrose, Seddon, Mcl'herson and Kallender; Piako : Alessra Chepmell, Hoanny. Browne, and Uanmer; Waipa: iMesara Lang, Teasdale and Anderson ; Raglan : Mr T. (i. Sandos ; Horough uf Hamilton : Mr I Coates : and Borough of Cambridge : Mr A. Clements. Tho following members then took their seats:—Messrs Primrose, Clements, Heaney, Coates. Mcl hereon, Teasdale, Lang. Hamnor aud beddon. Chauuian'.—Mr Heaney proposed that | Air Primrose be re-elected chairman. - Seconded by Mr Lang. -Several members spoke of the excellent manner m which Mr Primrose had curried on tho work or the Board, and on the motion being put it was carried unanimously. — Mr J rimnwe thanked them for the compliment passed him iu re-olecting him to the position ot chairman. r . It haviug been decided that House aud Fiuance Committee consist of bvo members, two to form a quorum, oil tlio motion ot Captain McPherson, secunded by Mr Hanmer, Messrs Primrose, Seddon, Coates, Chepmell and Lang were unanimously appointed as that committee. _ Paws, —Further communications witli reference to the account for the conveyance of Paris from Raglan to the Hospital were read.—After considerable disoussiou, it was decided that tho account bo not pan , the Board not considering themselves liable tor the conveyance of patients to the Hospital. Deputation.—Messrs J. H. Latham and

W. Washer, of Pukote, attended as a doputation, and asked the Board not to lease the Hospital reserve at 1 ukete. Ihey Btated that for years this reserve had been used as a landing place on the Waikato river for settlers, aud it would bo a great disadvantage to them ware it locked up. The deputation asked if the Board would agree to exchange for another piece ot lanu if the Government would grant it. ine Board said, as trustees of the land, they would be compelled to lease it, aud suggested that the settlers combine and lease the reserve for the present terui. Then, in the meantime, they could apply to the Government to oii'er another piece in exchange for this, aud tho Board would consider the offer. Giiekn.— Maty Grecu, of Hamilton, applied for relief of horself and children. Her husband, she said, had been working in Hamilton for 12 year::, receiving only iiiiall wages, not being able to save anything, lie was now away looking for work.—ihe Chairman said that this matter had been brought up before the House Committee, and they had orderud her one week * relief. The husband had, howavur, ijow returned, and relieved tlio of their responsibility. . rnt Wir.MAMS.—The Secretary to the Thames Orphanage wrote, with reference to tho lad John Williams, that ho could not yet be licensed out, as he had not attained to the Htandard of education required by the act. When he did rough the standard arrangements had been inside for licencing him out to a farmer with i m his brother is also living. Ihe Chair' man stated that this hitter was written in reply to one yent by the secretary u "d^ r [lis instructions, requesting that the lad be forwarded to his care.
