Whirlwind. —On Tuesday last, between the hours of 4 and 5 o'clock a.m., our township was visited by a most unwelcome visitor, in the shape of a whirlwind of extraordinary strength, and which caused some considerable damage to buildings and trees. Tho inmates of Mr Finch's Hotel who were suddenly awakened by the shaking of the house and noiso of the wind, rushed out of their beds, and sevoral were outside the premises in a quarter lees than no time, in no email fright. Once outside thay found the old stable completely destroyed, and the mail coach, which was standing under a portion of it, turned over and considerably damaged. The laree willow-tree growing behind tho post-ofljee, was blown out by the roots* At the Shamrock Hotel, which is now unoccupied, a small buildingwas lifted up and scattered in all directions, and some trees blown down. Mr Oliver's shed|and stable was also turned round and partly wrecked ; several other trees were also uprooted, and even f«r?e lifted up by the roots for some distance,
The Late Eduction.—The election excitement is now a thing of the past, and it lx to be hoped that those who were antagonistic to Mr Bryce beiiis? returned ae our member, will have cause to congratulate themselves for it at tho termination of the next l'arhameut.
