ROAD BOARD MEETINGS.

Taotaoroa Board

The above Board met at Hewitt's Hotel Cambridge, on Saturday at 12 noon. Present: Messrs H. J. Kallendar (chairman), S. Seddon, and 11. J. Turner. Pukbtutu Road, —Mr Turner was authorised to have about 12 chains of tho above road formed by the surfaceman, at a price not exceeding 4s per chain. He was also authorised to have sundry other minor works executed by day labour. The Next Meeting.—There will not be another meeting of tho Board until January it being resolved to let the December meeting lapse. Accounts.—Only two accounts wero passed for payment, viz., Wattam, £1 l'Js ; and Bruce, l. r >s. This was all the business of importance. Cambridge fioad Board. The Cambridge Board met at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday afternoon. Present: Messrs H. J. Kallendar (chairman), J. Taylor, M. H. Pickering and J. Forrest,

Better than Complaining.—A culvert known as Redgraves, on the Hamilton road needs attention at various times, and Mr Laney having cleaned it when required, the Board decided to make him a donation of 10s for his services.

The Cemetery Gravel Pit.—The clerk had communicated with the Cemetery Commissioners requesting them to give the Board a portion of tha waste land adjoining the cemetery to be used as a gravel pit. The Commissioners had roplied that they would give the land asked for if the Board would secure an equal portion of Mr Taylor's paddock adjoining the cemetery, and make it over to them (the Commissioners). The clerk was instructed to ask the Commissioners if they intended to put the Board to the trouble and expense of taking the land under the Public Works Act.

Nest Meeting.—lt was resolved to let the next meeting of the Board lapse, consequently it will be January before another meeting is held. Fencourt Station Road.—The Chairman reported that the approaches to Swayne's bridge, on this road, had been washed away, but they had now been repaired. Helping Another Board.—A bridge on that portion of the Victoria-road, that lies within the Tamahere Road District, having given way, the chairman had had it repaired as soon as possible, so as not to inconvenience the public. It was resolved to write the Tamahere Board, asking for the cost incurred.—This bridge still needs attention.

Crawford's Gully.—Tho Clork reported this gnlly as needing repairing. Mr Pickering was deputed to attend to it.

Booth's Road.—This road is to be repaired, the Chairman to supervise the work.

No. 2 Station Road.—Mr Forrest said this road required about two days'work done upon it. Ho was authorised to get it done.

Gobse.—Mr Pickering said the gorse on the main road near the Tamahere bridge had overgrown the soil to such an extent that there was hardly room for two buggies to pass.—The Clerk said the proper legal notices had been served upon both Messrs Robinson and Ewen. —It was resolved to give these gentlemen a further notice, that if the gorso is not cleared in 14 legal proceedings will be taken. —Mr Forrest said that fortunately there was not the slightest doubt of the gorse having spread from the adjoining land, in the above oasos ; but he thought the law should be altered, so that everyone should keep tho road opposite his property freo from gorse and briars. It was the large run holders who objected, and not small farmers. He thought it; would be agood thing to impress the necessity of the law being altered, upon tho candidates for Parliament,

Victoria Road.—The Chairman reported that tendsrs had been called for gravelling about two miles of the ab ivo road, which were returnable at 5 p.m. that day. He and Mr Forrest had met intending contractors, and had prepared the specification, which stipulated that 12 yards per chain should be put in wet places, and in other parts !l yards. ft subsequently transpired that Thos. Wattam \va? the successful tenderer at !)d per yard.
