Serpent states that the weather was thick, and the ship bumped on tin- rocks for half-an-hour, during which the officers remained on the bridge. The captain ordered the crow into the rigging, but a tremendous sea throw tlio steamer on her beam ends. All those who were saved belonged to tbi! crew of the life boat, and were wearing life bolts. They were washed overboard, and know nothing o)' what occurred after they parted with the ship.
