There was a brilliant assemblage, including the Governors of Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia. At the inrmest on the recent disas. trous fire, a verdict was returned that there was no evidence to show how the fire originated. A rider was added suggesting that the telegraphic wires should be carried under ground, and that there should be a better supsrvision in the construction of buildings, The Swede, Habbot, who began a torty days' fast on Saturday, has lost lljl'bs iii weight in 48 hours. Melbourne. October 28. Iu the House of Assembly, Mr Muuro. leader of the Opposition, has moved a want of confidence in the Government. The House has adjourned. The Opposition are confident of victory. They believe the Government is weakened by lack of confidence in the Minister of Lands and the muddling of ift'airs in the Lands Department.
