(by telegraph.—press association.) THAMES, Last Night. Very heavy rain fell to-day, and especially this afternoon, and soine of the streets are flooded. There does not appear to be any sign of tho weather clearing tip. INVERCAUGILL, Last Night. The Governor visited the Public Institutions this morning, leaving by the express for Dunedin; He was asked to visit Invercargill during the Agricultural Show, but he regretted that the elections required him in Wellington. He promised a longer stay in a year hence when visiting Lakes Manapouri and Te Anau. DUNEDIN, Last Night. The Employers' Union has intimated to tho Mayor that they see no necessity for observing LabaurDay 113 a general holiday. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. The Minister for Justice has given Mr Samuels permission to see Maihi Kai in gaol with refereuce to what he said yesterday before sentence was passed on him when he accused, another Maori of committing tho murder. Counsel for the Crown is likely to accompany Mr Samuels, and the statement of the prisoner will be taken down in writing by an interpreter in the presence of a gaoler,
