Duxemx, Last Night Tiie members of the Federated Stewards' and Cooks' Union, of Australia, are moving in the Supreme Court for an injunction to restrain the present trustees from uplifting f SSO of accumulated funds and applying tlieni as strike pay. It is alleged that the men were illegally callei out under the Union rules. CmusTcnupcii, Last Night. It is stated that the dismissed railway hands are applying for reinstatement in the terms of tlie Commissioners' letter received on Friday. (by elkcthic telegraph.—copyright.) Loxdox, October 12. Mr Edwards, secretary of the Labour Defence Committee of Australia, has cabled to Mr Burns for a loan of £20,000, repayment to be guaranteed by the United Australian Unions. He declares the success of the strike would then be assured. The labour leaders are confident that they can raise the money, and are taking immediate steps to obtain it. An Australian Saturday, on the lines of the Hospital Saturday, is suggested. London owners are engaging men for their ships irrespective of Unionists, and the latter, in consequence, are picketing the shins. Sydney, October 11. Coal is selling at 40s per ton. Great preparations are being made for. the opening of the Mount Kcmbla riiinc, in order to supply the railways. The pit is guarded by a large force of military. Melbourne. October 11. The Employers' Defence Committee has decided to set apart a, fund to subsidise the non-unionists thrown out of work by the strike. The Premier, Mr Gillies, states that lie has no intention of insisting on a conference of the parties to tlie strike. He only desires to point out the disastrous eft'eets of its continuance, and to urge both to come to an amicable settlement as soon as possible.
