The Habtit Bill introduce:! into the House of Assembly offers no assistance or concession in the direction of supplying landholders with small loans, or to paying a quota to cope with the pest. William Alfred Cuddy, late manager of the Australia Financial and Guarantee Agency Company (limited), who was convicted for larceny of a cheque belonging to the company, amounting to £'1032, has been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. His defalcations wore of an extensive character, and are said to amount to nearly £12,000. Newcastle, September 27. The first trial of ammunition manufactured by Captain Whitney, of Auckland, has been highlj satisfactory. JioisAHT. September 29. A motion has been tabled asking for the dissolution of Parliament on the ground that the Government railway proposals have all been rejected. The Government regard this as a want-of-eonfidenco motion and have adjourned. The notice of motion was given without the consent of the Opposition.
