SOCIAL AT WHATAWHATA.
A most enjoyablo evening party came off •in Friday last. About 100 invitations were issued, and, the weather being propitious, the majority were accented. The old school-house, the scene of many a festive gathering, was well tilled. In addition to the local elite, visitors from Ngaruawahia, Hamilton, Raglan, etc., were present. Somo beautiful songs were given by Mesdames Pain, Suttnn, Dawsnu and Miss Calder, Messrs W. Shepherd, Howden and Bloomfield also contributed in this liuo. Piano accompaniments by Mrs L. Sutton and Miss Iwersou. The dance music was provided by Jlr S. Culder, mi the violiu, and Mr Jilooinliuld (xVguruuvaliia) on tbeaccordeon. Refreshments wen; handed round at intervals, and nothing was Ictt undone to make tlio evening enjoyublu. It was into the .small hours before tho party broke up. The report would not be complete without reference to this able M.O. (Mr W. MeCntcheon), whose thoughtful tact was much appreciated.
