The "Times " says tho Trades Congress represents two types of Unionists, and it is improbable that the older Unions will respond to Australia's appeal, notwithstanding Burns' " ludicrously incorrect account " of the struggle ; still the congress is formally pledged to support tho gigantic strike if limited exclusively to Unions, though the apologies of the latter confess they have no grievance as to the hours and wages, or piece work. Sydney, September 3, The Finance Committee of the Labour Defence Council are formulating a scheme tor the formation of a Trades Union Bank. They state their object is to prevent their opponents fighting them with their own money. MuLHOITHNK, September 3. The Trades Hall Council is urging the slaughtermen to strike. Owing to the police affording ample protection, plenty of free labourers are offering.
