Cambridge Road Board.

Twenty-five shillings had been albwed for the latter purpose, but it would take more to coruplcto it, had already been expended and only a little more than half had been finished. —Ho was authorised lo have the work completed. (tHavel-I'ITS.—A discussion as to obtaining gravel-pits in various parts of the district ensued, Mr Forrest suggesting that they should tix upon one where most needed, and take it under the I üblio Work's Act; they would then know which would be the cheapest method, to take them under the Act, or to purchase from the owners.—Mr Pickering said the surfaceman had fetched some gravel from the pit near the Maori pa, but Mr Cowley -stopped him on behalf of the Maoris. There was very good gravel near the pound. .Mr Eorreat said the old gravel pit ought not to have been given up ; he had been doing his best for the past lt> years to get tho Tamahere gravel pit question settled, but without success. However, they must have a pit somewhere in the neighbourhood of the Tamahere store. —The clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Casey and Ewen, asking upon what terms they would sell one acre to be used for a gravel-pit, and further ti Htata that if neither of them would sell, thu Board would fix upon a site and take it under the Public Works Act. Thornton Road.—Mr Forrest said thu time would soon arrive when they would have to repair this road, as most of tin heavy carting was done. He believed the) had a verbal promise that Mrs Thornlm would bear half the expense, but the) might to have il in writing before doing tin work, or they might get, into trouble will the Auditor. —The Clerk was instructed ti obtain the necessary document.
