LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.

(BY TELEGRAPH. — OWS CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Last Night. Thkhe is a probability of an offer being made to effectually light the city and the public buildings with electricity. The s s, Wainul, duo from Samoa and Tonga yesterday, has not yet turned up. It is supposed by the Union Company that she has gone on to Suva and Loina (Fiji), in order to convey back the Tongau " exiles " to their home again. The Council of the Chamber of Commerce has decided to-day to forward the following telegram to the Hon. JS. Mitchelson " Should the Government be una'jle to make arrangements to continue the San Francisco mail service, the Chamber would urge upon the Coverntnent the desirability of making such arrangements with the Union Steamship Company as to secure for their boats' immediate despatch upon the arrival of the English mails in Sydney. The Chamber is of opinion that the direct service would not meet the wants of the northern portion of the Island as a mail service." Last night six employees of tho Tramway Company were notified they had been suspended and consequently were not at work to-day. Recently a number of tho men joined tho Trade and Labour Council, and the suspension is said to be connuctud with this action.
