The railway men are willing to accept Lordsßrasscy and Aherdan; as arbitrators. If the owners do not agree, a hundied thousand men will be idle on Wednesday. A quarter of a million workmen will he aflected by the strike. August 5. The Newcastle dockers have refused to unload six. ships carrying Danish produce, and the services of the crew and clerks of the consignees have been secured to discharge the vessels. Sviixuv, August 5. The marine officers have decided that unkss the owners agree to a compromise the members will withdraw from the boats on loth instant. The shearers have decided to inllict a minimum fine of io and a maximum of .£lO on blacklegs seeking to join the Union. The threatened strike of Lithgow miners owing to tlie employment of blacklegs has been averted by the masters agreeing to discharge the non-union t^en. The steamer Janet Nicoll has returned from a trip to the Islands, but the wharf labourers refuse to discharge her on the ground that she is manned by a coloured crew.
