It is proposed to increase the Uincl forces of Victoria by two additional bittalions, each on a peace footing of 000 men, with a war strength of 1000, and by two battalions of rangers, each corps to be 1000 strong. It is suggested that a Federal force on this basis would provide 12,000 rilics for Australian defence on a peace footing, and doable on a war footing, with an artillery of 7- field guns. July fi. The steamer Mainaru, bound from Cardifl to Now Zealand, has put in here for'repairs, having lost three blades of her propeller. Sydney, July 7.
