Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Baron de Worms staled that tho colonial Government would lmve to provide the fortifications and reserves for the defence of Albany, but Great Britain would supply the armaments. The Daily News asserts that the Government are sounding the members on the question of an nutuinn session and the passing of the Irish Land Purchase Bill. While cavalry manoeuvres were being carried out at Aidcrshot a detachment of Hussars collided with a body of Lancers. A scene of wild confusion resultod, during which several, men were injured. The captain of the Hussars was censured. The ' Procedure Committee of the House of Commons have approved of the suggestion that the Government Bills should be resumed at the same stage next ses- j sion nt which thoy are left this. By a majority of two the committee rejected Mr G-ladstone's report against the Government's suspensionary schemes. A Bill sanctioning the cession of Heligoland to Germany has been introduced into tho House of Commons, and the second reading fixed for Thursday. July 6. The Observer states that the Government proposals for carrying over Bills to next session will be abandoned. Moran, the alloged bigamist, asserts he ■was divorced at Maitland, in New South Wales, in July 1886. Paris, July (>. At the trial of Nihilists in Paris three were sentenced to five years' imprisonment and the women were acquitted. The prisoners alleged the Eusaian polico agents instigated the manufacture of bombs. Stambouloff, Regent and Premier, threatens to stop the tribute to the Porto unless tho latter accedes to the terms of the Bulgarian note demanding tho recognition of Prince Ferdinand to the throne. Belgrade, July i>. The Porte has expressed] regret for the murder of a consul at Pristinn. It is reported that Turkish and Montenegrin troops have como into collission near Lake Scutari, owing to a Turkish incursion. Sir W. A. White, the British Ambassador, has forwarded to the Porte a protest against the atrocities committed in Armenia. In answer, tho Porte attributes tho whole of the Armenian difficulty to agitators.
