[BY TIiI.KIiUAPH—I'HKKS ASSOCIATION". 1 Wkli.i ngton'Last Night, Thk matters in dispute between the steamship ou tiers and the Marine Officers , Association are assuming a serious aspect. By mutual agreement communication between the parties is kept secret, but it is understood that dining the conference, thfi Association somewhat amended their former demands, but in what direction has not yet been disclosed. The letter forwarded by Hon. George McLean representing the steamship owners to the Association is said to have been of an unfavourable nature, and its contents were fully discussed at the meeting of the council of the latter body. The Association has this evening addressed a letter to Mr McLean, in which thoy state that unless their demands are complied with before noon on Monday 1-1 tli next, all members of the Association, sailing in New Zealand waters, .vill bo called out. The- Association has cabled to Victoria and Xew South Wales, acquainting them of their action.
