Laundry.—ln reply to a further letter from the Board with reference to the cement work at the luundry, Mr W. Johnstone stated that his responsibility ended when tho work was passed and paid for, and he refused to do any extra work for a Board which in place of allowing him for any extras he had done had tried to ruin his reputation.—Mr Sandes said that as he was absent from the last meeting, he would like to make a few remarks. —Ho said that Mr Johnstone had not carried out the wirk even in accordance with tho laully specifications he had, and he was prepared to prove this. Mr Sandes said that one charge he could bring forward was that Mr Johnstone had only put on two coats of paint, whereas the specifications said three had to be put on. This he could provo from his own professional knowledge, and by the evidence of one of the Hospital servants. Ho said Mr Johnstone's statements in print were not true, and the Board had not, in those jobs, received value for their money. While on this subject Mr Sandes spoke of the working of the House Committee, and said that he was not at all satisfied with the way things were being carried on. The hospital was growing now into a one horse concern, and he would not take the responsibility thrown on him as a member of the House Committee, unless there was a change in the inanpgement. At present works were done of which the Committee as a body were ignorant, and he did not think that was right. He was very sorry that the Secretary was absent, as he would have liked to have said more on this subject, but could not do so ,n his absence. —The Chairman said that he would now resign as a member of the House and 1' iuance Committee, and it remained with the Board to appoint someone in his place.— This matter was adjourned to the close of tho meeting, when Mi; Brunskill moved, "that it is tho unanimous wish of this Board that Mr Primrose withdraw his resignation as a member of tho House and Einnnce Committees." —Seconded by Mr Sandes. —The Chairman said that ho had been placed in a very unpleasant position at the last two meetings. At the last meeting he had acknowledged he had made a iristake, through over-zeal, in over-stepping his position, and lie was prepared to abide by tluit mistake, but he objected to have things brought up at meetings which had been disposed of at previous meetings. The memt ers present all spoke of their regret at Mr Primrose's action, and tho difficulty there would be to get anyone t" fill his place.—Mr Brunskill's motion was then put, and carried unanimously. In reply the Chairman said that owing to the kindly expressions of the Board, lie would withdraw his resignation. Leases. —Mr T.
