(BV TEMiGKAI'H.— I'RESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. At the Magistrates Court to-day, Eraser, an expressman and sympathiser with the tramway strikers, was mulcted in a nominal tine for impeding the tramway traffic with his express. The Court warned him that any future case would be dealt with severely. Jenny was scratched to-day for all her engagements at the Wellington Steeplechase Meeting. Detective Campbell, of Wellington, is to bo transferred to Cliristchurch, and will bo succeeded by Detective Noill, of Christchurch. The libel action, Ijutdior v. Pay ton, is adjourned until to-morrow morning. The libel action, H. Roberts (footballer) v. 10veiling I'ost) lias been withdrawn. The Board of Education to-day considered the request of the local branch of the Teachers' Association, that any charges against teachers should be formulated, and copies given to the persons accused. Strong opposition was shown to the proposal, but the Hoard came to no decision, leaving the matter over to next meeting. So far, the following are the names of t.he candidates who have announced their intention of contesting the Wellington election Messrs McLean, George Fisher, John Dutliie, and Charles E. Willestou.
