TAUWHARE.

Mam: u.—The dance which came off here lust Friday evening was a most enjoyable affair, considering how unpropitious the weather was. I don't wonder at their being a local volunteer corps at Hamilton, as in most communities the men and women are assimilated. The Hamilton ladies certainly impressed us with a know ledgi' of how things should be done when they came such a distance in the face of a cold lior'-easter and rain. I heard a friend of mine observe that the young ladies of Hamilton are very determined and fearless, and so I should imagine after coming last Friday night and returning alter the dance, which wound up at 5.30 a.m. Mr Samson Mcßuinblebee made a most cfHcieut M.C. Or. Hackler superintended the decorating of tliH school prior to the dance coming off, and after assuring everyone that it looked lovely he retired for the evening. The catering was clone by our old triends the MeCloud's, and gave every satisfaction. Mr Stapp supplied the music, and gave several humourous speeches and comic songs during the evening. There were a number of representations of flags of all countries very well produced, and lent by Mr Bachly, a gentleman who held an appointment in the United States Xuvy. At 5.30 a.m. the dance came to a conclusion, and as one who was present and has been present at assemblies of the kind all over the world, in justice to the able and energetic committee who got the Tauwhare j dance up last Friday night, I offer them my best wishes and congratulations. —(A Correspondent.)
