Is Mr Richardson's speech at Wyndham on Tuesday, lie. did not refer to the speech made by Mr Fergus lately, and which has been generally looked upon as giving a forecast of the Government policy in tho forthcoming session. Mr Richardson, at the conclusion of his speech, referred to the question as follows :—"I knew you will be expecting me to say something of the policy of the Government, but as it will be so shortly disclosed in all its details in Parliament, it would be out of placo for me to do otherwise than deal with it generally, and speaking broadly, the policy of the Government is a policy of settlement and progress, of common sense and prudence, a policy of paying its way, of pausing in respect of railways, and of pushing ou roads —a policy that can be pursued without borrowing. A number of questions having been asked and answered, Mr Richardson was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and confidence.
