The New Zealand Loan aud Mercantile Agency Company report as under :— Adelaide, May 1(>. —Wheat. —We have experienced & brisk demand for wheat during the past week, and have sold several parcels of prime wheat at from 3s 9d to 3s lOd per bushel on trucks Port Adelaide, gross weight, bags included. Inferior wheat is also in better demand, and is quoted at from 3s 3d to 3s od. Under date 13th inst. our London house wired us as follows"The market is very weak, and has a downward tendency. Quotations nominal." Flour.—The millers report a slight improvement in the demand, but quotations are unaltered. Best roller is worth £9 to £9 4s, f.0.b., Port Adelaide, and country superfine about £8 per ton. Oats (duty 2s' per cental).— Owing to the short supply on the spot, small parcels are boing sold up to 2s 6d per bushel in bond. For early forward delivery, however, 2d per bushel less would be accepted. Butter (duty 2d per lb),—The demand for potted butter continues, and we quote values to-day at lOd per lb in bond.

Dunedtn, May 29,—Wheat: A moderate amount of business is being transacted, but there is no fresh features of interest to report, and but little change from last week's prices, which continue firm. The quantity of really prime wheat now offering is very limited j so that all lots coming up to this standard, and for immediate sale, are easily placed, both shippers and millers showing a disposition to operate, though not inclined to advance on late quotations. Medium is still without much attention, small lots only being disposed of occasionally for second-class flour. Fowls wheat continues in good demand, but buyers decline to advance. Quotations : For prime milling Tuscau, 3s 3d to 3s r>d ; medium to good, 3s Id to 3s 3d ; best hard red straw and, white velvet, 3s to 3s 2d ; •medium to g<\sd, 2s 8d to 2s lid ; inferior to medium,-2s 3d to 2s 8d (ex store, sacks weighed in, terms). Oats: The market during the past week has not in any way improved, and fewer sales have been effected. Old lots to retailers are being occasionally placed at quotations, but to induce either shippers or millers to purchase lines a concession on late quotations would have to be submitted to. Most growers of consignments now in store still liold out for higher prices, but as even present reported rates are beyond shippers' limits, there is considerably less business doing. Quotations : For bright stout milling, Is Id to Is 5d ; best short feed, Is 3d to Is ; medium, Is 2id to Is 3d ; inferior, Is to Is Id (ex store, sacks extra.) — Barley : There is little or no demand for this cereal ; meantime, and until malsters' stocks are somewhat reduced, we don't anticipate any improvement in the tone of the market. AVe quote (nominally) prime malting. 2s Gd to 2s 9d ; feed milling, Is Gd to 2s Gd (ex store, sucks extra). —Potatoes : In the absence of a demand for export, although the quantity coming to hand is not by any means extra heavy lately, the supply is somewhat still in oxcess of requirements, and consequently holders are unable to secure any advance in price. Quotations are ; —ir o r best Northern. £2 10s to £2 lus ; Southern, t'2 to £2 7s Gd per ton (sacks weighed in).— Dairy produce : There is 110 alteration to note with respect to the demand for either cheese or butter.
