LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.
(by telegraph—own correspondent.) Auckland, Last Night. At tho Police Court to-day, a salvation lass pleaded guilty to attempting her own life. She was liberated on her own reeognisanoes. Nearly all the eases on the civil list at Supreme Court to-day were settled or adjourned. The bripr Wild Wave now lying abandoned at Helensville was auctioned to-day, with all the spars, gear, sails, rigging etc., there was little or no bidding for the vessel and she was knocked down to Mr Foster for £50. A two-roomed cottage at Henderson occupied by a gum-digorer named Portaous and his wife, was burned down on Saturday. Mrs Porteous was alone in the house, but under the influence of liquor shortly before the outbreak and her charred remains were found in the debris subsequently.
