WAIRANGI.

Weathkk.— We have been enjoying beautiful fine clear weather for the last fortnight, but the last two days we have experienced heavy frosts. Eoad Works.—The road works that have been completed by Messrs Thompson ■ and party, also odd jobs by Mr Kiddie, are passable just now, but will be in a very bad state if we have much rain, as the earth on the fascines has been too thickly put on. It is a pity that metal is not more generally used upon our roads instead of this everlasting fasciniug with pea sticks and making bog holes, as there is plenty of good stone to be got close at hand. Goodh-Shkd.—There is a largely signed petition being forwarded to the Commissioners of the railway for the purpose of Rettiug a goods-shed erected at the Wairangi station. Wo trust it will be favourably entertained as it is greatly needed, the station being so far from the Wairangi settlement, goods have to remain there somo time before they are removed, and are very often injured for the want of a covering. Tklei'honb Station.—The settlers of Wairangi are agitating to get telephono communication. This is greatly needed lac the advancement of this thriving little valley, and we hope ere long to have one in our midst. Flax. —Messrs Boltnn and McMahon are the successful purchasers of all the splendid crop of flax on Dr. Treinearno's, Wairangi estate. They are at present busily engaged removing the engiiio and plant on to the property, and hope to start work in a fortnight or so. —(A Correspondent.)
