AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS.
Messks A. Buckland and Sons' report as follows:—Consequent of the wet, fodder his during the past week been selling at low prices, and with the exception of maize, grain has brought lower values. Maize, 3s 4:1; wheat, 2s (id ; barley, 2s 9d and 2s lOd ; oats, Is 7d to 2s, have been the prices obtained. At the horse sale on Friday, horses of a better class than usual were brought forward, and satisfactory prices obtained for them. Useful spring cart horses rauged from £0 to £13; heavy draught, unbroken, £10 to £14; hooded buggy, £24; waggons, £13 and £1!) 103 each. At the hide and skin sale on Toesday, ox hides ranged from 3d to 4§d ; cow hides, 1M to lgd the lb. ; sheepskins, 2.s to 4s (id each ; rough fat, l;Jd to ljd ; wool, 6|d to 7|d the lb. At the Waiuku cattle sale, held on Saturday, there was a full muster of growing cattle ; prices were moderate, and a considerable number remained unsold. At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cattle were in better enquiry than last week. Prices fot good cows at profit were from £3 10s to £5 10s each. Store cattle in forward condition •were in demand at full values; 2to 3-year old steers brought £3 10s; young cows brought 20s to 403 ; aged cows, 20s to 30s each; but growing cattle were no better worth. Good yearling steers at 20s; 18-months-olds, 35s each. A full market of fatcattlo kept last week's values. Steers from Nis to 17s ; cows, 12s to 14s the lOOlbs. Store sheep were in request but few offered. I'at sheop lower, about Is each, and would have fallen lower but for the demand by the grazier. Wethers were at 2W; ewes 2d to 1": the lb. Pigs, numerous, were in • fair enquiry. Fat calves, abundant, lower in price than for several weeks. Messks Hunter and Nolan's Weekly IlKi'Oivr.—Grain, seeds, horse-feed, &c.: A belter demand has existed, and increased quantities have been disposed of, but there lias been no run on any special line. We
quote:—Oats, from Is lOd to ]s 2d per bushel; maize, 2s lid to 3s ; bran, £4 10s per ton; chaff, £2 10s to £3 per ton. Horses : The demand has been steady, and supply moderate. Prices did not/alter materially. An average number were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Almost all found purchasers. We (mote : Hacks at from £5 to £10 10s; medium draught and light harness horses, from £5 10s to £14 10s. There remained an unsatisfied demand. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, &c.: The supply at the Durham Yards on Tuesday was but a moderate one. There was an unsatisfied demand for heavy ox hides and prime sheep skins. Other descriptions catalogued were in adequate supply and corresponding demand. We quote : Heavy ox hides, 4id to 5d per lb; medium 3d to 4d per lb; slight and cows, lgd to2i-d; calfskins, 2d to 4sd ; sheepskins, 2s to 4s 4d each ; lambskins, 2s 2d to 4s 3d ; pelts, 5d to Is lOd ; lambs wool, Ggd per lb; tallow, lGs to ISs (id per cwt. Cattle : There lias been a good supply of all descriptions, and a corresponding demand without alteration in value. There was a good muster at both the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday and Papakura on Wednesday. A steady demand for all descriptions has existed at previous week's prices. Some averages of fat steers were : £7, £0 17s Od, £G lis lid, £0 10s, £C 2<, £G Is 3d ; cows, £4 ss, £3 His, £3 2s Od, £2 12s 6d. Sheep were penned on Tuesday at Newmarket in average numbers, and the bidding was brisk throughout the sale. There was no noteworthy alteration in value. Wethers sold from lis 3d to l(!s '.Id ; mixed nexos, 10s to 12s (id ; ewes, 9s 9d to 14s 3d ; lambs, Ss to lis (id.
