OCEAN MAIL RATES.
(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.)
London, April 27. An interview took place to-day between the Agents-General of the Australasian colonies and Mr Cecil Raikes, the PostmasterGeneral, with reference to the proposed reduction in the colonial postal rates. Mr Raikes informed the Agents-General that a reduction on post c lrd rates would shortly be made, but he was uncertain yet whether the English Government would reduce the rate of the outward letters if the Colonial Governments declined to make a corresponding reduction on the letters forwarded from the colonies to England. Sir Francis Dillon Ball explained that New Zealand was independent of Australia as regarded her mail services, and she was not affected by the Brindisi route.
